Trubchesk

Last Saturday Zac had a meeting three hours south of us
near a big town called Trubchesk. It is the area where Zac spent alot of his time
last August so I went along for the ride.

Saturday was a national holiday called Mens Day. We are guessing that this limo was for it,
or possibly a wedding but we have never seen a limo in Russia before.

Last time Zac was in Russia he told me he saw my car here.
We saw it again and I couldn't believe it is the exact same color, all it is missing is the spoiler.

This picture is not the best but this church is so old and the architecture was amazing.
Hopefully we will be back to get a better photo.

Town square was so cute, there were pigeons everywhere!

We stopped in and had lunch at a Russian Cafe. We ordered pizza that came with corn on it.
It wasn't American but it was kind of good.

So far I have liked everything we have ordered... but the meat.
It was fun to try real Russian food, we don't have a cafe in our village.

This was a potatoe soup that was good especially because it was cold outside.
Zac says they serve it all year and in the hot summer its not good.

Our home

Sunday road trip

We headed down to drop Jasper off Sunday and stopped at some holy water.

This cross was at the bottom of the pool.

This is where the locals come to pray and they leave scarves or rags.

 More scarves by the water.

We also stopped in a town along the way to look at this church.

The turn sill at this building was made of wood.
We think this is a school.

Alot of the snow men here have buckets for hats.

This is a cool snow person playing a guitar.

Our next stop was the church of EKaterina in Lyalichi.
We call this the castle, I think it was built in the 1700s for Catherine the Great.

They are remodeling but we like the look of the old brick.

Jasper was our tour guide.

The front door was locked which must just be from
construction because Jasper said usually it is open.

The only way across was this piece of wood.

This is the view of the back once we crossed the wood it was really cool.

You can walk into the guard towers.

The front gate is still standing but the walls around are gone.

Last week

Jasper and Zac
Jasper is an American from another ranch.

He stayed with us last week to help with Vaccinations

This guy just showed up and started taking Zacs pickup apart.

We found out he was putting a tracker on it so now the
company can tell where we go and how fast.

We drove around to check on cows and found one of the workers stuck.

We went and told the tractor but he got stuck in the same ditch.

We haven't seen any real tow ropes here at all.
This is the tiny wire they had to pull the truck out!

After the tractor dug itself out the Russians hooked it up to the truck.

We were pretty entertained by the whole thing.

The tractor lifted the back end off the ground and pulled it out.
We couldnt believe the little wire held the truck.

Market

The roads were almost snow free last week but it snowed again.

This is the weekly market. I hadn't ever been so I came to check it out.

All these people had tents that they were selling stuff from.
Some even had buckets with fish in them.

It was snowing pretty hard but it didnt stop the people from coming into town.
The ladies walk everywhere in their high heeled boots, its crazy.

I'm excited to see all these trees in the spring.
They say its really pretty here.

After going to the outdoor market I went into a little store to get eggs.
The lady asked me how many I wanted and then loaded them up in a bag.

Usually at the bigger store we buy them in a plastic carton.
They come in packs of ten instead of twelve
but since these ones came in a bag I'm glad the fridge came
prepared with a little holder for them.

These are just a few groceries we get.

Milk pronounced Moloko

Butter ( Maslo ) This kind is acually margarine.

 Sour cream ( Smetana )

This one says Ketchup but its got seasonings in it so
its reminds me of a steak sauce/ketchup/ bbq sauce mix.

Flour

Sugar ( Sakhar )

Yogurt (said the same just with an accent).

 French Fries!!!!
Love these, they are pretty american.

Zacs favorite snack.

 Baking soda.

Left is vinagar and the right is vegetable oil.
